Why Chiropractic, Acupuncture and Sports Medicine?

As a practitioner who practices both acupuncture and chiropractic one can give the patient a wonderful treatment of the two complimentary fields. Chiropractic and acupuncture are very similar principles of healthcare being that they both seek balance; health comes from within the body, natural and preventative.

A hundred years ago when the chiropractic profession began, this thought process met up with tremendous resistance from the powerful emerging drug companies. With the free information of the Internet, both acupuncture and chiropractic are now flourishing. It is now Western medicine that is changing to think more like chiropractic and acupuncture in both prevention and a more holistic approach.

Chiropractic is responsible for allowing the nerves to function normally by maintaining movement and proper alignment of the bones and muscles in the body, particularly the spine. Chiropractic doctors use their hands or sometimes an instrument to take the pressure off of the nerves by creating proper function of the bones and muscles.

Acupuncture is responsible for keeping the energies, chi, flowing in the interstitial fluids of the body. These fluids travel in channels or meridians and they are responsible for keeping the energy of the body expressive through the body. When the fluid and energy is obstructed, then pain and other symptoms may develop. Acupuncturist uses small thin needles, instruments or hands to free up the obstructed blood and chi flow.

Sports Medicine is responsible for keeping the body functioning at a peak performance.

Exercise and nutrition are used to coach the patient to obtain the level of results that they desire.

Depending on the patient's need or desire, the method of treatment may combine all three types of treatment or use just one.
